PERIOD EIGHT AND THE YEAR OF THE YIN WOOD GOAT

PERIOD EIGHT AND THE YEAR OF THE YIN WOOD GOAT

When looking at the annual chart for 2015 it struck me that there is more to this year than initially meets the eye.

Remember Period 8?  From 2004-2023 we are in Period 8 of 9 20-year Periods. This 8 White Earth element Star is associated with wealth and has its home in the central palace of the Luo-Shu Grid for the entire 20-years.  It is worth remembering that it will have an influence on each Annual Chart.

On this 2015 Chart particularly it meets with the Annual Star numbers in the Centre, Northwest, East and Southeast Palaces to create He-Tu combinations.  What does this mean?  They create new elements that will have an impact on the Palace concerned.

Beginning in the Centre.  The 3-8 combination creates Wood.  The Annual 3 Jade Wood Star is related to disputes/disagreements/arguments making the centre of any property/area/country/or the earth prone to dispute.  The 3-8 combination will serve to strengthen the Wood element making disharmony more likely in the short term.

The Northwest has a 4-9 combination which creates Metal.  The Annual 4 Green Wood Star is related to learning and romance so while this is generally a usable Star it will be somewhat overwhelmed by its controlling element of Metal.  Metal is the intrinsic element of the Northwest.

The East has a 1-6 combination which creates Water.  The East is a positive location for 2015 with the 1 White Water Star of future prosperity.  The 1-6 combination will serve to strengthen the timely 1 Water Star while at the same time feeding the inherent Wood element of the East.  This should help the eldest son in a family thrive.

The Southeast has a 2-7 combination which creates Fire.  The Southeast has the 2 Earth Illness Star in place for the year and the 2-7 combination will serve to strengthen its effects as Fire creates Earth in the productive cycle of the Five Elements.  It will also weaken the intrinsic Wood element of the palace.  Care should therefore be taken to avoid this area if you are prone to ill-health.

During February all the Luo-Shu numbers return to their original home thereby doubling the effects of these combinations.  For example in the centre there is Period 8 combining first with the annual 3 and secondly with the monthly 3.

The combinations between Palace and Annual, Period and Annual as well as Annual and Monthly Charts are all different.  This is what makes the study of Feng Shui so fascinating and individual analyses so unique.

THE IMPORTANCE OF A GOOD DATE!

No, we are not talking about a romantic date or dinner date with friends more a positive date for:

a) making Feng Shui changes in your home or workplace
b) proposing marriage to that special someone
c) celebrating your Wedding day
d) breaking ground to build your dream home
e) moving home
f) signing a business contract

These is only a drop in the ocean compared to what date selection can be used for.  It is mainly for those events that will have a long-term effect on your life.  So why is it important to choose a particular date?  The simple answer is the quality of Qi present at a precise date and time will influence an event and people involved in the event.  To infuse the occasion, whatever it may be, with positive energy requires knowing when the energy is harmonious.

Qi (energy) is constantly in motion.  In Feng Shui we tend to focus on the annual and monthly changes of energy but in truth this also goes down to the day and the hour and it is this that we look to when choosing a date for a specific event.

You have all experienced days when everything you turn your hand to goes right or wrong or your mood changes from positive to negative (or vice versa) for no apparent reason.  This is the impact that Qi is having on you.  Often described as 'one of those days' the energy of the day is, or is not, in harmony with you.  Did you know that your birth date will influence whether a day is positive or not?

There are generic 'good' and 'bad' days and then there are those days that are good or bad for some and not for others.  When you are looking to arrange something that will impact your life for the foreseeable future it makes sense that you start on a day and at a time that will benefit you.  In 5 or 10 years time is it going to matter what the weather was like on your Wedding day or where you held that important business meeting?  It might matter more that things are not going well for you in your personal or business relationships and you cannot understand why.  Imagine that you went into partnership, whatever kind, on a day that benefitted one party and was a conflict day for another, or the day was a generic bad one - things will ultimately come to a head and disharmony will ensue.

Consider the benefits of date selection and how it can help you will ensure your adventure begins on the right footing, there is definitely more to gain than lose.

YEAR OF THE YIN WOOD SHEEP (or GOAT or RAM)

Move over Jia Wu (Yang Wood Horse) ----- Yi Wei (Yin Wood Sheep; Goat or Ram depending on your choice) is waiting!

To avoid confusion over when the energy of the year changes we have to look to the lunar and solar calendars.

The solar year starts this year on February 4 and it is the date we use when discussing the energetic changes for the year.   This date is also the first of the 24 Seasons of the solar calendar.  The 'Beginning of Spring' runs from February 4-February 18.  The second Season is known as 'Rain Water' and it runs from February 19-March 5.

The lunar year, commonly known as Chinese New Year, begins this year on February 19.  This is the start of the Year of the Yin Wood Goat and is increasingly celebrated in all parts of the world.

Energetically we look to February 4 to have our changes in place for the New Year.  This is especially important in 2015 when the Wu Wang-5 Yellow (generally regarded as the most inauspicious star of them all) moves from the Northwest (breathe a sigh of relief) into the West (beware).  It will occupy 45 degrees of the compass (247.5-292.5).

The West is the location of the Rooster (W2).  In the Ba Gua it represents Dui (the youngest daughter), Lake or Marsh,  it is Gua 7, the element of Xin (Yin Metal), season of Autumn, the mouth and voice.

The 5 Yellow brings with it the potential for five types of misfortune, all serious in their own right.  Illness, injury, major setbacks in your personal or business life, calamities and danger.

The potential for misfortune will only manifest if the West is disturbed by banging, decorating, renovating or digging.  Anything that will disturb the negative energy of the area and 'bring it to life'.  Keeping the area undisturbed, avoiding it if possible and adding more Metal objects will help ward off any negative influences.

So is it all bad news in the West?  Unfortunately, pretty much.  The only positive is the Duke Virtue Auxiliary Star in W1 which will help mitigate negative energies.

The West is also going to play host to the 3 Killings affliction in 2015.  This affliction (Robbery Sha, Calamity Sha and Annual Sha) will affect the compass locations of the Monkey (SW3), the Rooster (W2) and the Dog (NW1).

Does the bad news extend to the Monkey and Dog?  Not entirely.  In the location of the Monkey (SW3) there are two positive Auxiliary Stars.  The first is Yang Noble, which can stimulate the presence of helpful people.  The second is the Sun Star which can help reduce the effects of having inadvertently activated one of the annual afflictions.  This is a Yang Star which makes it more effective for males in reducing the effects of these issues.

In the location of the Dog (NW1) the Moon Star which being a Yin Star will benefit mainly females in situations when they have difficulty getting their message across or with their financial affairs.  This Star affects moods and emotions and may indicate problems with the opposite sex for males.

The Sun and the Moon Stars are two of the Four Nobles.

FOUR NOBLE ANNUAL STARS

FOUR NOBLE ANNUAL STARS
As we are moving closer to the Year of the Yin Wood Goat in 2015 it is time to take note of where the good and bad stars will be residing for the year.

In this post we will look at the stars known as the 'Four Nobles'.  These are the Sun Star, the Moon Star, the Dragon Virtue Star and the Fortune Virtue Star.  They each have their own unique energy and are used to counteract a specific negative issue.

From February 4 2015 to February 3 2016 the Four Nobles are situated in the following directions.

Sun Star (SW3), Moon Star (NW1), Dragon Virtue Star (NE3) and Fortune Virtue Star (SE1).

By activating one, or all of these stars, you can help alleviate difficulties occurring in your life.

So how do you activate?  The first thing is to identify your issue.  The second is to know which sector each star occupies during any particular year.  The third is to choose a good date and time (using Date Selection) and the fourth, the activation involves movement.  The movement of changing the furniture around,  clearing clutter from the area, knocking a nail in the wall in the direction of the star or opening a window all constitute activation.  The idea is that the movement activates the Qi and by extension the star.

One thing to remember is that you do not have to have any connection to the direction involved, ie. you do not have to be the Chinese astrological animal of the area.  If you have the issue associated with a particular star you can help alleviate the situation by activating the star.

Which star for which issue?  The Sun Star is a Yang star and will help males more than females.  When activated it will lessen the effects of having inadvertently activated one of the negative stars of the year such as the Five Yellow or the Three Killings.

The Moon Star is a Yin star and will help females more than males.  If your business or career depends on communicating with clients, customers, fellow workers or management and you have trouble getting your message across this is the star to activate.  As a Yin star it does affect feelings and emotions.

The Dragon Virtue Star is there to help when you have blockages or obstructions in your way.  These can be caused by difficult people who stop you from progressing in your working life and prevent you getting due recognition for your efforts.  It can help give a boost to your finances or your career path.  It can also be activated when you apply for a bank loan, to smooth the path and get a 'yes' response.

The Fortune Virtue Star is the star to activate to benefit from a more satisfying lifestyle in all areas.  Health, wealth and happiness can all be improved by activating this star.
